PHILLIPSBURG, N.J. - Last week's snowstorms delayed trash pick up in Phillipsburg for two days, but the town has another weather-related trash problem on its hands.
Mayor Harry Wyant told Town Council Tuesday that some trash isn't getting picked up because it is buried under the snow.
And, if residents want it collected, they'll need to dig it out.
Wyant said that's not a job for Phillipsburg's trash collectors.
"They have a tough job to do," he said. "It's very difficult, collecting the garbage."
Wyant noted that the town's public works crews had been going without sleep recently to keep the roads cleared, but acknowledged that "people's patience has worn very, very thin" this winter.
Also Tuesday, Council President, Todd Tersigni said residents will soon be able to watch council meetings on TV via Service Electric.
He said it's something senior citizens in the town had been requesting, and Phillipsburg has the technology and software to make it happen.
The meetings should start being televised sometime in the next few weeks.
