CAMDEN, N.J. - The family of three schoolgirls involved in a fatal school bus crash last week offered thanks Tuesday to all those who have supported them.
Triplet Isabelle Tezsla was killed and sisters Natalie and Sophie were severely injured in the accident with a dump truck in Chesterfield Twp., Burlington Co., N.J., last Thursday. The girls' father is New Jersey State Police Sgt. Anthony Tezsla.
Natalie was upgraded from critical to stable condition at Cooper University Hospital in Camden last Friday. Sophie remains there in critical condition, along with classmate Jonathan Zdybel.
The Tezsla family said in a statement that the outpouring of love and support has touched them profoundly.
"There are no words to express the gratitude and appreciation that we have for the kindness and professionalism that our rescue workers, doctors and nurses have shown our girls," the family said. "In addition, the outpouring of love and support that we have received, in particular from everyone in our community and the surrounding communities, has touched us profoundly. We thank you for your continued prayers for our Isabelle, Sophie and Natalie."
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash, which injured 17 of the 25 students on board the bus. No charges have been filed against either driver.
