What would happen if the jet stream flowed from east to west?

Only the middle latitudes experience a jet stream which flows from west to east.  This is the case across the United States.

Latitudes closer to the equator and the poles have a jet stream which travels from east to west.

As far as what would happen if that were different... it is a tricky question to answer.

The "reversal of the jet stream" would result in many weather "consequences" to all areas of the USA.

If the jet stream traveled from east to west, the one thing which could be stated with some certainty is that the East Coast would see weather systems first.

Most regions would no longer experience the weather conditions that they have become accustom to seeing.
