Woman shot in Monroe County by woman posing as delivery person

Shooting victim was target, not random, police say

CHESTNUTHILL TWP., Pa. -  Police in Monroe County say an attempted homicide victim was shot by someone posing as a delivery person.

Police say 50-year-old Bernadette O' Reilly of Chestnuthill Township was shot in the abdomen when she opened her door.

It happened last Thursday at her home on Whisperwood Road, north of Effort.

There's no word on O'Reilly's condition.

Police say the suspect may be a white female in her 40s, with blonde or grey hair.

Police received a report that a dark-colored sedan was in the area at the time of the shooting.

State Police said there's no indication that a suspect is targeting random people but residents are reminded to be vigilant at home and report anything suspicious to 911.

Anyone with information is asked to call State Police Fern Ridge crime unit at 570-646-2271.
