Weather Forecast Discussion

Turning much warmer on Thursday

Hot, humid and unsettled into holiday weekend

TONIGHT: Clear to partly cloudy and comfortable. Low: 58

THURSDAY: Partly sunny, breezy and becoming warmer; still not that humid. High: 88

THURSDAY NIGHT: Partly to mostly cloudy; a shower or t-storm in spots, mainly north. Low: 69

Hard to top mostly sunny skies with daytime highs near 80 degrees, which is exactly what the area saw on Wednesday. Clear skies during the day on Wednesday can be attributed to the area of high pressure sliding across the East Coast. That high will initially keep the skies clear tonight, but by daybreak on Thursday a few clouds will move in. Temperatures overnight will dip into the upper 50s.

As that high sets up over Bermuda on Thursday the warmer air will start pumping in for the southwest. Highs on Thursday will reach into the upper 80s, but it still won't be that humid. Thursday will also be breezy with partly sunny skies. While Thursday will be dry during the day, there may be a shower or thunderstorm in spots Thursday night. That activity will primarily be north of the Lehigh Valley as a warm front situates itself across New York state.

The dewpoints will creep into the mid and upper 60s on Friday as highs hit the low 90s all thanks to the Bermuda High. With the frontal boundary still draped to our north and west on Friday a shower or thunderstorm can't be ruled out, especially during the afternoon and evening.

The area remain hot, humid and unsettled this weekend with the best chance for a shower or thunderstorm coming Saturday afternoon through early Sunday afternoon. Highs on Saturday will again top out in the low 90s with dewpoints near 70 degrees. Sunday won't be as warmer or humid with highs in the upper 80s and dewpoints falling back into the mid 60s.
