The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League, today announced the team’s 2016-17 Regular Season Schedule. The Royals open the sixteenth year of pro hockey in Reading on home ice for only the fourth time in team history when Reading takes on the Elmira Jackals on Saturday, October 15, 2016. The seventy-two game regular season closes on Saturday, April 8, 2017, against the Norfolk Admirals at the The Scope in Norfolk, Virginia.

Impressive pitching performances led the Lehigh baseball team to a doubleheader sweep of rival Lafayette Sunday afternoon as the Mountain Hawks captured 5-2 and 6-3 victories over the Leopards to move back into postseason contention by completing the series sweep on Senior Day Sunday. Lehigh rode strong starts from sophomores Sam Ashey and Mark Washington and clutch saves from seniors Kevin Boswick and Brandon Kulp. The Mountain Hawks improve to 18-26 overall and 7-9 in Patriot League play, while the Leopards fall to 13-26 overall and 6-10 against league opponents.

The Reading Royals (­­­­­­­­­loss, 3-3-0) of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League, were defeated by the Toledo Walleye (win, 3-3-0) of the ECHL, affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League, 3-1, in Game Six of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal best-of-seven playoff series at Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania. The series is tied three games apiece and will be resolved in Game Seven at Huntington Center in Toledo on Tuesday.
