All-Stars Alfaro, Cozens, and Hoskins propel Fightin Phils to 4-2 win

Fightin Phils win again

The Fightin Phils took a four game winning streak and a 57-23 record into the month of July.  Reading entered Friday atop the Eastern League's Eastern division with a six game lead over Trenton, and hoped to continue their impressive offense production.  The Fightin Phils had scored 50 runs in their first five games this week.

Lehigh Valley beats Charlotte 3-2, for 4th victory in 5 meetings


The IronPigs took full advantage of a fresh team coming to Coca Cola Park Thursday night.  Lehigh Valley snapped a three game skid, as they eeked out a 2-1 win over Charlotte, continuing their mastery of the Knights.  The IronPigs had taken four of the five meetings so far this season between the two teams.

Stassi's ground out in the 8th does the trick


The IronPigs began the week coming off a 6-1 road trip and were tied with Rochester and Scranton/Wilkes Barre for first place in the North Division.  But Columbus continued to be a thorn in the Pigs side Wednesday night.  The Clippers beat Lehigh Valley 5-2, sweeping the three game set, and taking the season series 5 games to 1.

More good news for the best team in professional baseball.  The Eastern League All-Star team was announced Thursday, and six Fightin Phils will be making the trip to Akron in two weeks. 

Red Knights hold off International team, 57-55

Reading Hoops take on Global Squad at Geigle

Denmark, China, some international Allstars and Spring-Ford all came to the court at the Geigle Complex Thursday night to show off their skills on the court.  Thanks to Global Squad and Crossover Hoops, the Red Knights took their game worldwide,  helping prospects get a chance to be seen.  WFMZ's Sam Marcinek has the story.
