BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - WFMZ's Dave Lesko caught up with former 69 Sports anchor Tom Leyden in Minnesota.
Tom, who now works for WFXT-TV, the Fox affiliate in Boston, is covering the New England Patriots' return to the Super Bowl and their rematch with the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
This is actually the 10th Super Bowl that Tom has covered during his career, which includes stints with the NFL and a TV station in Detroit.
But high school football still holds a special place in Tom's heart, going back to the four years he spent at 69-WFMZ-TV, where he started as a sports reporter on the "Berks Edition" in 2000.
"Well, who doesn't love 'The Big Ticket?' It was one of the best experiences of my whole life. I absolutely loved it," Tom told Dave. "I still love watching you guys do 'The Big Ticket.'"
Dave and Tom also had a confession to make regarding Dave's biography on WFMZ.com.
"A lot of people don't know, too, you ended up writing my bio on our website," Dave reminded Tom.
"Which is still there," Tom replied. "The bio needs to get updated. I wrote that bio, I know exactly when, in 2002."
As for the big game, Tom was brave enough to offer a prediction, at the risk of offending many of his former viewers in Berks County and the Lehigh Valley.
"I know I'm going to tick off a lot of people... but I do think that the Patriots are going to win this one. I think they might win it by 10."
Of course, Dave is going with a 28-17 win by the Eagles.
