The Red Wings' 3-2 loss to the Blue Jackets Thursday at Joe Louis Arena was marred by a scary injury in the second period. Columbus forward Artem Anisimov was taken off on a stretcher at 3:48 of the second period. Anisimov was caught between Wings defensemen Kyle Quincey and Ian White behind the Wings net. Anisimov lost his balance and was driven to the ice by Quincey falling atop him, Anisimov's head taking the brunt of the fall. Anisimov appeared to be motionless for several minutes as Wings medical personnel attended to him. But the Blue Jackets reported later in the period Anisimov was alert and responsive as he was loaded into an ambulance and taken to a hospital. On the play, the Wings might have incurred yet another injury. Quincey left the game with what coach Mike Babcock said afterward was a rolled ankle. Quincey's leg was tangled underneath Anisimov when Anisimov fell to the ice. The Wings already are missing Carlo Colaiacovo and Brendan Smith on defense, both out because of shoulder injuries. Power play hurts The Red Wings had two power-play opportunities with the game tied 2-2 midway in the third period — 10 seconds with the two-man advantage — and couldn't capitalize. "Obviously we needed a power-play goal and didn't get one," Babcock said. "We had some good chances but their goaltender (Sergei Bobrovsky) played good. We had some good play in their zone. "But the bottom line is we didn't score and they did." The Wings were 0-for-3 on the power play in the loss.
