Coach Marc Trestman said Thursday morning that he expected to have his vacant wide-receivers coach position filled within a couple of days. It only took a couple of hours. Former Alabama receivers coach Mike Groh will succeed Darryl Drake in charge of Bears wideouts, according to several reports on Thursday. Groh was a quarterback at Virginia from 1991-95 and went to the Baltimore Ravens’ 1996 training camp. He spent a year playing NFL Europe with the Rhein Fire and broke into coaching as an offensive assistant with the New York Jets in 2000. Groh returned to Virginia in 2001 as wide-receivers coach and left for Alabama in 2009 after rising to Virginia’s offensive coordinator from 2006-08. Groh served as quarterbacks coach at Louisville in 2010 and receivers coach at Alabama in 2011-12.
