The first annual Berks Cheer for a Cure was an overwhelming success. It went well beyond the football field or the basketball court, and into something much more important.
10 school districts from across the county sent cheerleading squads to the event that raised breast cancer awareness, and then some.
After a month of fundraising in October, a check of $12,000 was presented to Berks Breast Cancer Support Services. The charity did not expect that much to be raised.
The Berks County Cheerleading Coaches Assocation organized the event and hopes to make it a staple on the Fall calendar for years to come.
