Washington Capitals goalie Philipp Grubauer started 14 of the past 20 games for the Caps, but on Monday he was reassigned to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League.

Grubauer, 22, appeared in 16 NHL games and has a 6-4-5 record with a 2.38 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage.

However, he was pulled from losses Friday against the Columbus Blue Jackets and Sunday against the New York Rangers after allowing a combined six goals on 22 shots.

Washington has two other goalies on its roster: Braden Holtby and Michal Neuvirth.
