The Washington Capitals signed free agent forwards Tim Kennedy and Kris Newbury to one-year, two-way contracts on Friday.

Kennedy had two goals and six assists in 37 games with the Phoenix Coyotes last season. In 162 NHL games, he has 15 goals and 39 points with four different teams.

Newbury played four games last season with the Philadelphia Flyers. In his NHL career, he has played 76 games. He finished last season with the Hershey Bears, the Capitals' AHL affiliate.

Both players are expected to start this season with Hershey.
