Peyton Manning finally got his ring when he led the Colts to a victory over the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI on Feb. 4, 2007.
Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay told the public that quarterback Payton Manning’s future with the franchise is undetermined.
Irsay posted that Manning "hasn't been released nor was a decision reached weeks ago” on his Twitter account, a response to a report from the NFL Network that the Colts have been ready to move on from Manning for a while.
Manning, an 11-time Pro Bowl selection and MVP of Super Bowl XLI, missed the entire 2011-12 season while recovering from numerous neck surgeries. Indianapolis finished with an NFL-worst record of 2-14 and earned the No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft, which it will use to select Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck.
The addition of a promising young passer has sparked the recent rumors that the Colts are shopping Manning and moving in a new direction. Manning fired back with statements last week, saying the organization was an unhealthy atmosphere.
Indianapolis recently fired head coach Jim Caldwell and hired Ryan Grigson, the former director of player personnel for the Philadelphia Eagles, as its new general manager.
