READING, Pa. -

This has been one of the biggest weeks in the baseball career of Darin Ruf. The R-Phils slugger has tied Ryan Howard for the single season home run record in Reading, he's been named the Paul Owens award winner in the Phillies' organization, and it continued Thursday. Ruf was named Eastern League MVP. That left just one order of business in the final home game of the year, passing Howard by hitting one more home run.

He did just that in the second inning. Ruf blasted a towering three-run drive into the table area in left-field, his 38th of the season.

Ruf was showered with cheers by both his team mates and fans, as Ruf became the single-season home run king in Reading.

The R-Phils won 7-2, taking three of four from the Mets.
