An otherwise joyous night for the Blue Jackets was tempered by a serious injury to one of the club's most inspiring player. Right winger Derek Dorsett suffered a fractured clavicle at 1:36 of the first period, when he was driven into the net by Vancouver's Andrew Alberts. The club announced after the game that he's likely to miss the rest of the season. It's a big blow for the Blue Jackets. Dorsett has three goals, six assists and 53 penalty minutes in 24 games. Last season, he had 12 goals, 20 points and 235 penalty minutes -- all career highs. Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards did not comment on Dorsett's injury, other than to say he hadn't been given any injury updates on any of his players. The Blue Jackets announced Dorsett's injury to the media shortly after Richards had spoken. He'll likely address Dorsett's absence on Friday. The club may also recall a forward from minor-league Springfield so they have an extra skater heading into a weekend back-to-back with Detroit. Dorsett's injury dampened the mood on a night when the Blue Jackets beat Vancouver 2-1 in overtime.
