Agreement struck moments before arbitration hearing

The deal was struck just moments before the two sides were to engage in an arbitration hearing.
"I was sitting in the room. ... I was getting a bottle of water right before it was supposed to start and they told me to step outside and talk," said Montero.
He had asked for $6.8 million when arbitration figures were recently exchanged. The Diamondbacks initially offered $5.4 million.
The 28-year-old led National League catchers in doubles (36), RBIs (84) and slugging percentage (.471) in 2011.
