After 14 seasons in Philadelphia, Eagles head coach Andy Reid is officially out. Football fans have plenty of opinions about who should replace him, and where Big Red might land next.
At Starter's Pub outside Bethlehem, all eyes were on the news everyone knew was coming.
"We're going to be saying goodbye to the winningest coach in the history of the Philadelphia Eagles," team chairman Jeffrey Lurie announced at a news conference Monday.
After two disastrous seasons, capped off by Sunday's 42-7 divisional drubbing, some said it was time.
"I think it's probably a year or so late," added Bill Komoroski of Hellertown, Northampton Co.
But for younger fans, the news is bittersweet.
"I grew up under the Andy Reid era of Philadelphia, so it's kind of a difficult day for me," said fan Andrew Buhay.
Now that Andy Reid is out, who will be in? Several football fans suggested first-year Penn State coach Bill O'Brien, a former assistant for the Patriots.
"He's kind of helped Penn State since -- kind of got them on a path," said Dave Herschman of Coplay.
O'Brien recently said he will stay in State College.
Another name mentioned is Jon Gruden, although the former Tampa Bay coach and current ESPN commentator isn't popular with everyone.
"He doesn't do anything for me," said Komoroski. "I don't like the way he left the NFL."
Others think the Birds should look at a promising NFL assistant.
"Either the offensive coordinator from Denver, or the offensive coordinator from Atlanta," said Pete Gifford of Lower Saucon Twp., Northampton Co.
Reid's record was impressive: five NFC title games and a 2004 Super Bowl appearance. But the past two seasons were abysmal, ending with this year's 4-12 record.
So what's next for Andy Reid? Most said the coach will land on his feet -- fast.
"With the money he's got, I'd retire, but I think when it gets in your blood, it's tough to get out of there," said Komoroski.
"Andy Reid's going to San Diego to coach," said Gifford.
Even one Cowboys fan wants to bring "Big Red" to the "Big D."
"I think it would be a real kicker, that I would love to see, is Jerry Jones get rid of Jason Garrett and hire Andy Reid.," said Dallas fan Hope Herschman.
