David Wilson had watched his YouTube highlights before. But never like this. During a quiet moment of Boost Mobile's "Shrink Hunger" community event in on Thursday in Harlem, the Giants running back huddled over his smartphone, staring at his running form, focused on the position of his helmet. All of this because of a new NFL rule change that Wilson says is "stupid." On Wednesday, league owners passed a controversial regulation that penalizes players for leading with the crowns of their helmets when outside the tackle box. It's a regulation aimed at player safety, but to Wilson, it's makes no sense. "It's stupid," he told the News. "Runners, when you run, you're automatically tilted. Even a track runner, when they cross the finish line, the first thing there is their head . . . It's a stupid rule. "You just gotta wait and see how the refs call it and whatever," he added. "But that's gonna be a lot of flags." Wilson joined a growing list of backfield dissenters for the NFL's newest rule change. The crown-of-the-helmet rule can be enforced against both offensive and defensive players, but it stands to hurt running backs most. It's already being called the "T-Rich Rule," a reference to Browns runner Trent Richardson, who delivered a helmet-jarring hit against Eagles safety Kurt Coleman in September.
