The Carolina Hurricanes announced Monday that their No. 1 goalie Cam Ward will be gone from six to eight weeks due to an mediate collateral ligament (MCL) in his knee. Ward was hurt in a collision early in Sunday's 3-2 road win over Florida. Dan Ellis took over in net as the Hurricanes won for the second time over the Panthers on the weekend. It is expected that the club will call up Justin Peters from the American Hockey League. Peters has 28 games of NHL experience in his career. Carolina has a six-point advantage over their Southeast Division rivals, putting them in third place in the Eastern Conference. The Hurricanes begin a three-game homestand against Buffalo on Tuesday.
