The Carolina Hurricanes signed forward Ben Holmstrom to a one-year, two-way contract on Friday.

Holmstrom, 27, will make $600,000 if he makes the NHL roster or $200,000 if he plays in the AHL. He has played seven NHL games in his career, including five in the 2011-12 season.

The Philadelphia Flyers signed Holmstrom as an undrafted free agent in 2010. He has played 256 games for the Adirondack Phantoms. Last season, he had 13 goals, 32 points and 146 penalty minutes in 75 games for Adirondack.
