Guard Kelsey Barlow collected 21 points and 12 rebounds as Illinois-Chicago snapped a two-game losing streak with a 75-69 non-conference victory over Southeast Missouri State on Saturday night at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Guard Marc Brown and forward Jordan Harks each added 12 points for the Flames (4-6).
Barlow scored eight straight points in a span of 2 minutes, 28 seconds in the second half as the Flames pulled away to a 72-65 lead in the final minute.
Guard Jarekious Bradley scored a game-high 28 points, guard Darrian Grey had 14 and forward Tyler Stone added 10 for the Redhawks (7-3), who entered with a six-game winning streak and ranked 13th in the nation in scoring at 87.4 points per game.
The Flames led by as many as 16 points in the early going, but the Redhawks scrambled back and cut the deficit to three at 36-33 on Gray's 3-pointer with 1:33 left in the half.
Markese McGuire's jumper with 54 seconds left restored a 38-33 lead that held into the break behind Barlow's 11 first-half points.
Illinois-Chicago's lead slipped to one at 53-52 with 11:40 to play in the game after Bradley hit his second 3-pointer in 55 seconds for Southeast Missouri. The Redhawks stayed closed but never overtook the Flames.
Saturday's meeting was just the second between the teams. In 2012, Illinois-Chicago beat Southeast Missouri 56-45.
The Flames meet Purdue-Calumet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the UIC Pavilion. The Redhawks are idle until next Saturday when they travel to No. 16 Memphis.
