Have to admit, it was rather amusing watching Jets coach Rex Ryan and new general manager John Idzik attempt to put out the Darrelle Revis fire Thursday at the NFL’s scouting combine in Indianapolis. The key word in that sentence being “attempt,” because there’s still plenty of smoke billowing out of that chimney. The Jets just can’t get out of their own way. Ryan said the original reports of Revis being on the trading block weren’t true. The stories were “inaccurate.” That, he said, prompted him to personally call the shutdown corner and inform him the media was once again fabricating a story. Naturally, Jets beat writers couldn’t wait to point out to Ryan that those initial reports were generated from owner Woody Johnson’s comments that a decision needed to be made on Revis, who is in the final year of his deal. Oops. “There wasn’t an ounce of validity in that because of the simple fact that John never knew anything about it,” Ryan said of Idzik. “I didn’t know anything about it and Darrelle didn’t.”
J-E-T-S! Joke, joke, joke!
