That Matt Cassel release is about to go down. The Kansas City Chiefs will officially release Cassel after confirmation came down that the team had agreed to a trade with the San Francisco 49ers. According to a report from Wednesday (Feb. 27), the team is about to part ways with its quarterback of the past four seasons after acquiring his replacement. This will make the end of Cassel's tenure in Kansas City, despite the quarterback still having two years left on his deal. That deal was originally signed at $63 million over six years, but Cassel never really lived up tot he promise that he had shown with one really good season for the New England Patriots.
