With the University of Kansas off to an 0-2 start in Big 12 play, head coach Charlie Weis announced changes in the responsibilities of his staff Tuesday.
Weis will continue to serve as his own offensive coordinator, but he is delegating portions of the role. Tight ends coach Jeff Blasko is now in charge of the running game and blocking, while quarterbacks coach Ron Powlus will head up the passing game.
"More than coordination, it's going to be more guys getting to interject ways of how can we improve the offense, how can we score more points," Weis said, according to KUsports.com. "I felt like I had to back off a little bit or we weren't going to get any better."
With Weis running the offense, the Jayhawks are 2-3 overall. Kansas lost 54-16 to Texas Tech in its Big 12 home opener, then fell 27-17 at TCU last Saturday. Next up for the Jayhawks is a Saturday home game against No. 18 Oklahoma.
Excluding a season-opening, 31-14 win over Football Championship Subdivision team South Dakota, the Jayhawks are scoring an average of 15 points per game.
