Lafayette women drop Patriot League opener to Navy
Lafayette lost its Patriot League opener to two-time defending champion Navy 60-42 on Sunday in Annapolis, Maryland.
Freshman Jamie O’Hare had a career-high 19 points in the loss.
Navy (8-8, 1-0) used an early 23-3 run to build a big lead on the Leopards.
Lafayette used a 10-1 run to cut the lead down to 8 at the half, but it wasn't enough.
O’Hare scored 13 of her 19 points in the second half, shooting 6-of-8 from the field.
Sophomore co-captain Emily Homan also hit double-digits for Lafayette, notching 10 points on four layups and two free throws.
The Leopards (7-9, 0-1) shot 17-for-54 (31.5%) from the floor and 5-for-13 (38.5%) from long distance. They only made six trips to the free-throw line, but knocked down five of them on the afternoon.
Lafayette returns home for its Patriot League home opener versus Army on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. inside Kirby Sports Center.
