Tom Brady did not practice with the New England Patriots on Wednesday in preparation for the AFC Championship game on Sunday against the Denver Broncos, according to multiple reports.
A source told ESPNBoston.com that Brady was suffering from an illness and would be ready for Sunday's game. Brady, who had said last week he was suffering from a cold but did not miss practice, is next scheduled to talk to the press on Friday.
Backup Ryan Mallett, the only other quarterback on the Patriots' roster, took snaps with the first-team offense.
In 2011, Brady missed the Wednesday practice before the AFC Championship.
Brady and the Patriots travel to Denver for what will be a 15th meeting between Peyton Manning and the Brady-Bill Belichick Patriots.
Brady is 2-1 in head to head games against Manning in the postseason and 10-4 overall.
