Phillies ink deal with star pitcher

PHILADELPHIA -

One of the aces of the Fightin' Phils' pitching staff is signed, sealed, and delivered for the 2012 season.

Pitcher Cole Hamels and the Phillies have agreed on a one-year contract worth $15 million.

Hamels won 14 games last year and had an earned run average of under 3.

He made the All-Star team and was fifth in the voting for the Cy Young Award.

The Phils also agreed to a one-year deal worth about a million dollars with infielder Wilson Valdez.
