Washington State looks to build on its stunning upset of UCLA when the Cougars host USC on Saturday in the final regular-season game for both teams. The Cougars snapped a nine-game losing streak with a 73-61 victory over the Bruins on Wednesday, while USC is 6-3 in its last nine games and 7-6 under interim head coach Bob Cantu. Both teams will face long odds at the Pac-12 tournament, which begins Wednesday in Las Vegas. The Cougars' victory over UCLA was even more impressive considering that starting guards Mike Ladd and DaVonte Lacy missed the game with season-ending knee injuries. Washington State is looking to avenge a 72-68 loss to the Trojans on Feb. 7, when Byron Wesley led USC with a season-high 20 points. The Trojans, who are coming off an eight-point loss to Washington on Wednesday, have been held to 57 points in each of their last two games after scoring 89 in an 11-point win over Arizona on Feb. 27.TV: 6:30 p.m. ET, Pac-12 Network ABOUT SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA (14-16, 9-8 Pac-12): While Cantu figures to be considered for the permanent job, it appears athletic director Pat Haden intends to hire a bigger name. Cantu has the Trojans in position to surprise at the Pac-12 tournament with an offense that is averaging 68.8 points in conference play. Senior forward Eric Wise averages a team-high 12.1 points, but is shooting 36.8 percent from the field over the last eight games. Forward Dewayne Dedmon matched a career high with 18 points against Washington, and is averaging a team-high seven rebounds. USC is 11-4 when outrebounding its opponent.ABOUT WASHINGTON STATE (12-18, 3-14): Before defeating UCLA, the Cougars had lost nine straight with five of those games decided by four points or less. Forward Brock Motum, who leads the team in scoring (17.9) and rebounding (6.3), had 20 points and 11 rebounds against the Bruins. The 6-10 Motum has scored in double figures in 30 straight games. Kansas transfer Royce Woolridge scored 19 points against UCLA, and could have another big game if the Trojans' defense focuses on slowing down Motum. Forward Dexter Kernich-Drew, averaging 6.4 points off the bench, had a career-high 11 rebounds against UCLA.TIP-INS1.
