The Reading Phillies earned a 5-0 shutout at Portland on Sunday, trimming their magic number for a playoff berth down to one heading into Monday's regular season finale.
The R-Phils will clinch a playoff berth with a win on Monday, or with a New Britain loss to New Hampshire.
If the R-Phils lose and New Britain wins, then the two teams will play a one-game play-in game on Tuesday.
Ethan Martin (5-0, 3.18) pitched seven shutout innings, allowing just two hits and striking out eight to get the win for Reading.
Jake Fox had two hits, including a home run, while Leandro Castro added a hit and two RBIs.
Darin Ruf went 0-for-4, dropping his average to .316 and lessening his chances at winning the triple crown.
The R-Phils (75-66) will wrap up their regular season schedule on Monday at 1pm at Portland.
