Rangers rip Boyle for backing Patriots in Super Bowl
New York center hails from Massachusetts
After Boyle detailed that he was rooting for the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI against the New York Giants, his Rangers teammates didn't waste too much time taking him to task.
On Monday, Boyle found his locker adorned with a Giants' Super Bowl hat and T-shirt. He'll have to wear both items after New York posted a 21-17 victory over New England.
The 27-year-old Boyle, who hails from Hingham, Mass., declared prior to Sunday's afternoon game against the Atlantic Division rival Philadelphia Flyers that the Patriots would win the big game.
"(Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski) will have a quiet game for more than three quarters, but Tom Brady will hit 'Gronk' in the end zone in the final minute for our fourth Super Bowl," Boyle predicted to the New York Times.
"It's going to be a lower-scoring game than people expect. The only thing I'm nervous about is how well the Giants have been playing. They're on fire."
