Zach Greinke yielded a pair of singles over five innings and J.P. Howell (4-1) worked a flawless sixth. Chris Withrow struck out two over two frames and Kenley Jansen struck out the side in the ninth to notch his 27th save and complete the National League champion Dodgers' major league-leading 21st shutout of the season.
Andrew Cashner (10-9) suffered the loss despite allowing an unearned run and four hits while striking out seven in seven innings. The right-hander has surrendered a total of four earned runs in 44 2/3 frames over his last six starts.
Jedd Gyorko and Rene Rivera had singles for the Padres, who scored two runs in the opener before being blanked in each of the final two contests of the three-game series.
