Sharks 5, Oilers 1: Logan Couture and Bracken Kearns extended their goal-scoring streaks to three games as San Jose ran its home point streak to 11 contests (10-0-1).United States Olympian Joe Pavelski recorded a goal and an assist while Brent Burns and Patrick Marleau also scored for the Sharks, who have won five of six overall. Captain Joe Thornton stretched his assist streak to six games with a pair and Antti Niemi made 23 saves.Nail Yakupov netted the lone goal and Devan Dubnyk stopped 31 shots for the Oilers, whose four-game point streak (2-0-2) came to an end.San Jose struck twice in a span of 49 seconds late in the first period to take control. Burns began the burst with 5:23 left in the session, accepting a cross-slot pass from Pavelski and firing the puck past Dubnyk for his 13th goal.Marleau swiftly made it 2-0, scoring on a snap shot from above the slot after gaining possession along the right-wing boards. The Sharks doubled their advantage with two more quick goals in the middle period.Kearns continued the onslaught at 7:18, when he ripped a loose puck past Dubnyk from the top of the slot. Couture pushed the lead to 4-0 just 1:27 later as he beat the netminder to the glove side during a partial breakaway.Yakupov finally got Edmonton on the board with 4:21 to play in the second, plucking the puck out of the air with his glove and shooting it past Niemi. But Pavelski restored the four-goal cushion with a one-timer from above the slot at 5:44 of the third.GAME NOTEBOOK: Pavelski, a native of Wisconsin, was named to the U.S. Olympic Team on Wednesday. ... Thornton, who has collected 10 assists during his streak, is six points shy of tying Bobby Hull (1,170) for 48th place on the all-time list. ... Kearns failed to score in his first seven NHL games while Couture endured an 11-game drought before breaking out. ...
