Boston Bruins goalie Tim Thomas is considering taking next season off, ESPN.com reported Thursday, based on a source.
Thomas, 38, has one year remaining on a contract that pays him $3 million, although his cap hit is $5 million.
His no-trade clause expires on July 1.
The Bruins may be open to trade offers because they have a possible No. 1 goalie in Tuukka Rask.
Thomas had a 2.36 goals-against average this season.
He was the MVP of the playoffs in 2011, when the Bruins won the Stanley Cup.
