PHILADELPHIA -

The Philadelphia Phillies, considered a contender when the season began, have been making inquiries with teams about the possibility of trading pitcher Cole Hamels, CBSSports.com reported Sunday.

The Phillies, who are struggling through an injury-plagued season, are testing whether there is any interest in Hamels around the league, although no significant progress has been made regarding a possible trade, according to the report.

Hamels is 10-4 with a 3.08 ERA and was named to the National League All-Star team over the weekend, but is a free agent after this season.

It's been expected the Phillies would try and resign him after the season but could run into potential problems with the tall lefty's value now estimated between  $150-$175 million.
