Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton, a recovering alcoholic, was drinking alcohol in a Dallas-area bar on Monday night.
The Dallas News reported the incident of Hamilton's relapse, which was confirmed by individuals familiar with the episode.
The Rangers released a statement saying they were "aware of a situation, but we don't have further comment at this time."
Hamilton, the 2010 American League Most Valuable Player, battled alcohol and drug addiction while with Tampa Bay's organization and was suspended for more than three years.
According to the report, he had another alcohol-related relapse in January 2009 at a bar in Arizona.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 1999 amateur draft, the 31-year-old Hamilton is tested for drug use three times a week.
