Reports: 49ers LB Bowman has torn ACL, MCL
An MRI on San Francisco 49ers All-Pro linebacker NaVorro Bowman revealed he suffered a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee, multiple media outlets reported Monday.
ESPN.com reported Bowman will have surgery to repair the ACL, but the MCL should heal without an operation.
Bowman is expected to be ready for the start of the 2014 season.
Bowman was injured midway through the fourth quarter after stripping Seahawks wide receiver Jermaine Kearse of the ball near the goal line. Bowman appeared to have possession of the ball as he fell to the turf with Kearse on his leg, but the Seahawks were given back the ball at the San Francisco 1-yard line.
Bowman had 14 tackles, one for loss, and one sack before being injured.
