Reports: Phillies sign Joel Pineiro
According several online reports, the Phillies have agreed to sign pitcher Joel Pineiro to a one-year, Minor League contract.
Pineiro, a right-handed, ground ball pitcher, is a Major League veteran who has won over 100 games in his 11-year career.
Pineiro most recently pitched for the Angels last season, where he started 24 games, posting a 7-7 record and a 5.13 ERA.
Pineiro figures to provide some depth for the starting rotation in case one of the regulars were to miss time with injuries this season.
The contract reportedly includes an invitation to big league spring training, although, barring injury, his likely landing spot to start the season could be with the IronPigs.
