ARLINGTON, Va. -

It's every minor league players' dream to get to "The Show" in any sport.

The Royals got a taste of the show Tuesday morning when they scrimmaged the Washington Capitals down in Virginia. It was a part of the franchise's effort to tune up before the start of the NHL season this weekend.

The Capitals won the scrimmage 8-0, but gaining experience was more important than the scoreboard.

Reading goalies Brandon Anderson and Sergey Kostenko tended net for the Capitals and shut-out the Royals offensively, who did manage to put together a few scoring chances.

The Royals were happy to have had this opportunity to live the dream for a day, no matter what result.

Washington star Alexander Ovechkin tallied 3 points on the afternoon.

Reading will play in Trenton on Wednesday morning at 11:00.
