PHILADELPHIA -

Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard has been activated from the 15-day disabled list and is in the Phillies' starting lineup tonight against the Braves.

Howard will play first base and bat cleanup.

To make room for Howard, the Phillies optioned infielder Hector Luna to the IronPigs.

After a devastating walk-off loss to the rival Mets Thursday night that saw the Phillies All-Star closer Jonathan Papelbon surrender two runs in the ninth inning for only his second blown save of the season, the club is hoping to get a big boost from a Big (missing) Piece.

Howard, who had left Achilles surgery last fall, played in seven minor-league rehabilitation games, finishing with a 2-for-3, two-walk night at Triple-A Lehigh Valley Thursday. Hit went 10-for-20 with two doubles and one home run in the seven games at Class A Lakewood and Lehigh Valley.

He was scheduled to play in consecutive games at first base Thursday and Friday with Lehigh Valley, but now, Friday's game will be with the Phillies.
