In a effort to shore up depth at the linebacker and tight end positions, the New Orleans Saints have reached a three-year deal with unrestricted tight end Ben Watson and a one-year deal with linebacker Ramon Humber, the team announced Monday. Watson, 6-3, 255, a former first-round draft choice of the New England Patriots in 2004, joins the Saints after a three-year stint with the Cleveland Browns. With the Browns from 2010-2012, Watson appeared in 45 games with 41 starts from 2010-12. Last season, he appeared in all 16 games for the Browns with 14 starts and recorded 49 receptions for 501 yards and three touchdowns. Watson, who has 321 receptions for 3,776 yards and 28 touchdowns in his nine seasons, is expected to be the primary backup behind Jimmy Graham. Humber, who played primarily on special team last season, is versatile and can play inside or outside linebacker in the Saints' new 3-4 scheme. Last season, he appeared in 13 games and finished tied for second on the team with 14 special teams tackles. Humber has spent the past three seasons with the Saints after entering the league as an undrafted rookie with the Indianapolis Colts in 2009.
