Montgomery Co. native Jamie Moyer, who two months ago became the oldest pitcher to win a major-league game, cleared waivers on Monday, making him a free agent who's eligible to sign with another team.
Moyer was designated for assignment by the Colorado Rockies last week, and his time with the Rockies officially ended Monday.
The 49-year-old Moyer, a veteran of 25 seasons- four with the Phillies- has said he does not plan to retire and hopes to sign with another team.
Moyer posted a 2-5 record with a 5.70 ERA with the Rockies.
"With any pitcher, consistency is the most important thing," Moyer told reporters after the Rockies designated him for assignment on Wednesday. "I haven't done that at this point, but I believe that I can find that."
