The Souderton softball team won a state championship at the AAAA level Friday in State College, beating Lower Dauphin 8-3.

Souderton broke a 2-2 tie in the 2nd when Angie Carty singled home a run.  Carty would score later in the inning on an Amanda Brush base hit and from there Souderton wouldn't look back.  They scored again in the 4th on a Paige Shelly rbi double, and added 2 in the 5th and one in the 6th.

The 8-3 win gives Souderton its first ever state softball championship.
