Pius X, playing its first game following the transfer of many of its top players from last year, suffered a 61-0 loss to Southern Columbia Saturday in Roseto.

The game was a rematch of last year's PIAA A state quarterfinal, which eventual state runner-up Southern Columbia won, 54-25.

The Royals opened the game with a 65-yard pass play from Anthony Savelli to Eric Marbary.  But it was the lone highlight of the game for Pius X.

Pius X is playing in the wake of a series of abrupt transfers by some of its stars from last year's team.

Record-setting quarterback A.J. Long and top wide receiver Boise Ross were just two of several players who would have suited up for the Royals this season.
