The Southern Lehigh boys and Northwestern girls were among the winners on the opening night of high school basketball.
The Spartans won in the head coaching debut of Ben Tannous, beating Upper Perk 51-40 in their own tournament. The Spartans built a big first half lead and eventually won by 11.
Salisbury's boys weren't as fortunate, falling to Blue Mountain despite 22 point from Justin Aungst. The Eagles had two players in double figures including Skyler Panchari as they pulled out a 61-52 win.
The Northwestern girls won on the road in their season opener, beating Whitehall and new head coach Dwight Repsher 31-20. Sarah Segan led the Tigers with 12 points.
