Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt on Tuesday was found not guilty of driving under the influence after trying to pass through a security gate at Fort Campbell last summer. Britt was arrested on July 20 when entering the Army post through a gate on the Kentucky side of the installation, which is about an hour from Nashville. At the time, military police said Britt failed a field sobriety test and refused to take a Breathalyzer test. After a five-hour trial on the post Tuesday, U.S. magistrate Lanny King also found Britt was not guilty of violating the implied consent law for refusing to take a Breathalyzer test, attorney Jonathan Farmer said. Britt was in the courtroom but was not called to testify. “The judge just felt like there wasn’t enough there, that there wasn’t enough proof to convict him of DUI,” Farmer said. “The judge felt like he was innocent.” Fort Campbell officials said Britt was attempting to enter the post at approximately 3:30 a.m. through Gate 4 when he failed a field sobriety test. Britt was released, his vehicle was impounded and military police escorted him off the post. Farmer said he filed motions to suppress evidence, and some of the evidence was suppressed.
