Royals clinch No. 1 seed in Kelly Cup playoffs

The defending Kelly Cup champion Reading Royals will have home-ice advantage in their quest for a repeat.

The Royals wrapped up the Eastern Conference's No. 1 seed in their regular season home finale against Kalamazoo Saturday night.

The Royals will play three road games this week before starting the postseason next week.

On Tuesday, the team will officially change hands when the sale to local businessman Jack Gulati becomes official.

The transaction will take place in a ceremony at the Santander Arena.
