Haddad, Burgey win NCAA Championships

A pair of local products won NCAA Div. II wrestling national championships Saturday night.

Kutztown's Ziad Haddad, a Bethlehem Catholic grad, won the heavyweight championship with a 5-4 win over California Baptist's Jacob Mitchell.

Haddad and Mitchell were both undefeated heading into the bout.

Easton grad Eric Burgey, wrestling for Notre Dame College, won the 174-pound title with a 4-2 win over Central Oklahoma's Chris Watson.

It marks the second consecutive national championship for Burgey.
