The Fightin Phils earned their second straight win on Sunday, beating Portland 4-3 at FirstEnergy Stadium.

The Fightins pushed four runs across in the second inning, then held on down the stretch.

Carlos Alonso hit a three-run home run to pace Reading's offense.

Perci Garner (1-0, 3.00) struck out six over six strong innings to earn the win on the mound.  Ken Giles picked up his second straight save.

After back-to-back losses to start the year, Reading improves to 2-2 after its season-opening series.

The Fightin Phils will open a three-game series with New Hampshire on Monday at 6:35pm in Baseballtown.
