READING, Pa. (AP) -- Mitch Walding hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning, leading the Reading Fightin Phils to an 8-4 win over the Trenton Thunder on Saturday.
The home run by Walding, part of a three-run inning, gave the Fightin Phils a 3-2 lead before Drew Stankiewicz hit an RBI single later in the inning.
The Fightin Phils later added three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth. In the fifth, Jiandido Tromp hit a three-run home run, while Scott Kingery hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Carlos Tocci in the sixth.
Alexis Rivero (1-1) got the win in relief while Trenton starter Justus Sheffield (6-5) took the loss in the Eastern League game.
Wilkin Castillo homered and singled for the Thunder. Rashad Crawford singled twice, also stealing a base.
Despite the loss, Trenton is 4-2 against Reading this season.
